Sustainability

Responsible fishing - this is a term that is bandied about frequently these days, but what does it mean?

The supply of fish from the North Sea and the Atlantic Ocean is diminishing. Consumer awareness of the importance of sustainable fishery and fish production is growing. Supermarkets and retailers respond by demanding their suppliers to supply fish, crustaceans, molluscs and shellfish that originate from sustainably managed sources. As fishery sector we respond by taking responsibility for humans and the environment throughout the entire process – from catch to sales. This involves a wide variety of issues and challenges, from sustainable fishing methods, energy savings and food safety to health.

In this part of our website you can read what is going on in the fishery industry in terms of sustainability, the challenges that lie ahead and what we are doing to overcome them.
